Stan Sayers

 

Director of Instruction

 

Stan Sayers has earned the reputation of being one of the countries premier golf instructors and custom club fitting experts. His custom fitting clients include PGA & LPGA Tour professionals, PGA & LPGA club professionals and top amateurs. Stan, a class A  PGA member, has provided golf instruction for over 25 years and often instructs golf professionals in the art of club fitting. Stan is married, and living in Littleton, CO with his wife Lynda and their three children. Stan has helped countless golfers elevate their golf games to a higher level. His students include local and national junior champions and Denver Bronco MVP Terrell Davis. He is a recipient of the Henry-Griffitts Professional Club Fitter Award and has been elected to the Consumer Research Council's “Top Golf Instructors in the Country.” Colorado Avid Golfer and The Rocky Mountain News featured Stan regarding his club fitting knowledge, and in 2009 Stan was awarded The Colorado Section PGA Teacher of the Year Award.

 

 

Scotty Hofer

 

Instructor

 

Scotty is a Class A PGA Member with 22 years teaching experience and is a lead instructor at MetaGolf Learning Center.  Scotty works with all skill levels from true beginners to elite level players.  His fourteen years of experience working with youth as a soccer, baseball, and basketball coach and a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader serve him well when working with junior golfers.  Scotty is the head girls golf coach and the assistant boys golf coach for Valor Christian High School.  The girls team placed third in the 2012 4A State Tournament.  The boys team won the 2009 and 2010 Colorado Class 4A State Championship and was runnerup in 2011 and 2012.  Scotty is also an accomplished club fitter certified by Henry-Griffitts and has the ability to fit other major manufacturer's clubs as well.  He is a TPI Certified Fitness Instructor, AimPoint (Green Reading) Certified Instructor, and an authorized Edel Putter and Wedge fitter.  Scotty has authored works in The Golfer magazine and other local and regional publications and provided TV golf tips for Altitude Sport's "Golf at Altitude".  His undergraduate studies were at NCAA Division I Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas where he competed on the golf team for four years and received the Lou Hassel student-athlete award.  He also received Masters and Juris Doctorate degrees from The University of South Dakota.  Scotty is an accomplished player as well, having competed for a time on the Dakotas mini-tour and twice attempting to qualify for the PGA Tour.

 

 


 

Jason Preeo

 

Instructor

 

 

Jason has an immense understanding of what it takes to be successful at the highest levels of competitive golf. His background as a former college coach and an accomplished player gives him the ability to offer insight into the necessary mental, physical, and technical skills necessary to take you to the next level. As a player, Jason has won tournaments at every level, high school, college, and professional, and, in 2010, Jason made the cut at the US Open at Pebble Beach. Locally, Jason won the 2009 and 2010 Colorado PGA Match play championships as well as the 2010 Assistants Match Play. 

In his time as a coach Jason spent five years as the head coach at the University of the Pacific where he coached multiple NCAA All-Americans. His teams twice finished in the top 25 at the NCAA Division I National Championships. In their professional careers, Jason's former players have twice won on the Canadian Tour and one is a former PGA Tour member.  Currently, Jason coaches the boy's golf team at Valor Christian, where in three years the team has won two state titles.  In 2010-2011, Jason was awarded the JeffCo 4A High School Boys Coach of the Year Award.  In just three years of teaching and coaching here in Colorado, Jason's players and students have amassed 15 team or individual state titles and Jason is quickly becoming recognized as one of Colorado's elite instructors.  Whether your goal is to lower your handicap, play collegiate golf, or even play professional golf, Jason has the unique perspective necessary to guide you towards reaching your goals.

 

 

 


 

Peter Norwood

 

Instructor

 

Peter Norwood’s teaching background is one of the strongest in the country.  His background includes working for three Jim McLean Golf Schools, The McGetrick Golf Academy, The Kostis-McCord Learning Center, The Junior Players Golf Academy, and for Stan Utley.  Peter has helped golfers ranging from beginners to tour professionals.  Through the years Peter's junior students have competed in the top junior tournaments in the country, many obtaining collegiate scholarships.  Peter has taught numerous collegiate players, mini-tour players, club professionals, and even Web.com and PGA Tour members.  In fact, he still occasionally travels to help some players who compete on both the Web.com and PGA Tour.  Peter’s teaching approach stems from his vast knowledge base, he has read hundreds of books pertaining to golfer development, studied thousands of swings, and learned under many of the top teaching professionals in the country.  Feel free to learn how Peter approaches instruction at www.peternorwood.com.  Peter is a Class A member of the PGA of America, with speciality certification in the area of instruction, and a current member of the Colorado Section.  Peter is a TPI Certified Instructor, a Jim McLean Certified Instructor, and was a member of the AMF Golf Instructor Division.  Peter has competed in numerous levels of competitive golf, and still enjoys occasionally competing to this day, his low tournament round is 66.  Peter holds a bachelors degree in Finance from Arizona State University.   Peter hopes to have three instructional books published.  He is currently finishing up work on his third.

 


 

 

Mark CrabtreeMark Crabtree

 

Instructor

 

Mark has been an instructor for 27 years.  He started teaching at the age of 24 and taught for 15 years with The John Jacobs Golf Schools, 6 years with the ESPN 3 club tour under the teachings of Hank Haney, and 4 years with McGetrick Golf Academy.  Mark has also  worked side by side with Tim Mahoney, Todd Sones and other top 50 instructors. Mark has traveled to China, Mexico, and Ireland to teach with John Jacobs and while working for ESPN he learned from some of the best instructors from Kansas, Arizona, and Florida.
 
Mark was a member of the 1983 NAIA National Championship team from Cameron University, in Lawton, OK. Mark played on some mini tours out of college, but now enjoys teaching every type of golfer, from single digit to the brand new golfer. "I love the brand new golfer.  I try to make them feel relaxed and make it as simple as possible.  We have a tremendous teaching facility here. A great place to come and practice and learn the game."

 

 


Matt Long

Matt Long MA., M.ED

Mental Coach

 

As a partner with Health & Sport Performance Associates, Matt work's with athletes in the area of mental performance consulting, assessing their mental skills (i.e. confidence, motivation, focus, energy management, etc.) and developing their abilities in this often-neglected component of performance. His focus is on helping people better understand, and more importantly improve, the aspects of performance which so often fail to get the attention they deserve: building and maintaining confidence, the ability to perform well under pressure, setting goals and utilizing them effectively, developing mental resilience, etc. His consulting is informed by a background as an athlete, coach, teacher, and graduate student, enabling him to work effectively with people from all backgrounds. He is passionate about the field of applied sport psychology and its value, both in the athletic arena and in everyday life.


Matt's formal educational background includes a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a Sports Marketing concentration from the University of Oregon, a Master's in Education and Teaching Credential from the University of Oregon, and a Master's in Sport Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. His time at JFKU provided opportunities to facilitate mental performance training in internships with athletes from a variety of sports, including baseball, cross country, basketball, golf, football, lacrosse, soccer, and strength training. He was able to accumulate over 500 hours of experience working with athletes during his two years in the program, and completed his final Applied Project - titled, "Acknowledge-Adjust-Accept: An Applied Model for Helping Performers Excel Under Pressure."


 

Tyler Ferrell

 

Golf Fitness and Biomechanics Professional

 

Tyler played college golf at Towson University in Maryland, where he graduated with honors and had a successful college playing career. Tyler has extensive experience with Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). He has achieved the highest level of certification through the institute. He loves to share his knowledge and how it relates to developing golfers to perform at their highest level. Tyler has extensive work with 3D motion analysis. From studying many golf swings over the years, he has become an expert in the biomechanics of the golf swing. Tyler has extensive experience developing junior golfers through his experience with TPI, fitness consultant of the Georgetown University girls golf team and working with highly competitive high school, college, and mini-tour golfers. Tyler currently uses the top of the line AMM 3D System, the same system used at the World Famous Titleist Perfermance Institute, and the only one found in Colorado.  He looks forward to helping MetaGolf Learning Center develop the finest golf fitness and biomechanics program in Colorado.  Tyler can be reached at 303.799.0870 and at  tferrell@metagolflc.com.
